Fisherman’s Museum

The historical Ercilla Tower, home to the Fishermen’s Museum, overlooks the old port of Bermeo. Few museums in the world provide such an unparalleled insight into the lives and work of Basque fisherfolk as this one. Visitors can explore descriptions of their way of life, customs, trade associations, boats, and the techniques used to catch and sell fish over the centuries. The museum also recounts the history of the “Euzkadiko Gudontzidia”, the Basque Auxiliary Navy, which was mainly made up of Basque fishermen.
